Summary

The annual growth of the quick-frozen-food sector rose 17% over the period ranging from 1991 to 1994. In 1995, overall food consumption dropped 6.5%, but consumption of quick-frozen-foods rose 9%. In 1997, sales reached a level of 300 million USD (compared with 120 million USD in 1995). Annual per-capita consumption today is estimated as being 900 grams, this being a low figure compared with that seen in Brazil (3.8 kg) and a very low figure compared with the Chilean figure of 6 kg.
