Asia Pacific's dairy market is now the fastest growing in the world. In 1997, it was worth USD43 billion and its volume has been rising by 5.7% every year. The Chinese market for dairy products is now the largest in Asia-Pacific. Vietnam has been the fastest growing dairy market by volume at 11.7% per year. It is estimated that India now produces 78 Mt of milk each year to overtake the US to become the world's largest milk producer. The Japanese dairy market is the most developed in the world.
