Summary

For a long time, the pharmacies give transport envelopes for drugs, say isotherm, to their patients with the aim of ensure the cold chain from pharmacy to home. During the third day of cold chain of health products in Lyon in November 2012, a work group from commission AFF/SFSTP (Association Française du Froid/ Société Françaises des Sciences et Techniques Pharmaceutiques) studied the subject and revealed the thermal inefficiency about these envelopes The French pharmacy council, who was there, has chosen Cemafroid to lead a technical group in order to work on envelopes for temperature- sensitive drugs deliveries in a pharmacy. This article makes an assessment of the use of envelopes and diagnoses of their thermal performance with a protocol of qualification in order to test the time/temperature maintain once of envelopes for drugs from 2°C to 8°C. The purpose is to show the results of a comparison study about thermal performances of these envelopes, to suggest improvements and good practices to ensure temperature-sensitive drugs transport follows the required temperatures conditions.
