Automated design system of centrifugal compressor impeller.

Summary

The development of existing technological processes and creation of new ones require constant modernization of centrifugal compressors. The efficiency of centrifugal compressors significantly depends on the gas-dynamic perfection of their flow channels. Feature based modelling in optimal gas-dynamic design of centrifugal compressor remains relevant for design calculations. The efficiency of impellers in centrifugal compressors can be increased by improvement of thermo-gas-dynamic calculation methods, in particular, by better consideration of real gas properties; enhancement of design quality and reduction of proof terms by implementation of CAD subsystems. Thermodynamic parameters in multistage compressors can vary significantly at the inlet and at the outlet of the compressor, therefore application of average values can lead to substantial calculation mistakes. The model under consideration defines the thermodynamic flow parameters for each stage by using special program. A software program was developed for impeller calculations; real properties are considered using the Benedict-Webb-Rubin equation and the Lee Kessler method. The program has a simple interface and is easy to use in the management of input data.
