Summary
An automatic processing system for frozen tuna has been developed and installed in a tuna processing plant. The system consists of highly rigid scalar type robots, a color vision system, bandsaws and computers to process frozen tuna for steaks automatically. Firstly, the tuna is cut into round slices with the bandsaw and inspected by the vision system to recognize the bones and visceral parts. The computer decides the slicing pattern for minimum loss. Then the meat steaks are produced. The processing capacity is about 3 tonnes/day.
