Summary

AUTOTRANSPLANTATION OF PANCREATIC ISLETS ISOLATED FROM CRYOPRESERVED PANCREAS WERE PERFORMED TO EVALUATE THE VIABILITY OF THE ISLETS IN DOGS. THE METHOD OF ISLET PRESERVATION HAS SOME ADVANTAGES BECAUSE OF THE EASINESS OF CRYOPRESERVATION AND SHORTENING THE WARM ISCHEMIC TIME BEFORE PRESERVATION. ISLETS PRESERVED BY THIS METHOD HAVE VIABILITY SUFFICIENT TO MAINTAIN NORMAL METABOLISM IN VIVO. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THE METHOD IS USEFUL IN PRESERVING PANCREATIC ISLETS.
