Bench testing R404A and R507 as substitutes for R502.

Summary

The article describes the test rig used in a laboratory and consisting in a refrigerated display cabinet and an external refrigerating unit. The major conclusion is that the two HFC mixtures are able to maintain the product at the same temperature as that obtained with R502. The discharge temperature with R507 is about 10 deg C higher than that of R404A and R502, but the level is quite acceptable. The power consumption is lower with R502 and R404A.
