Some performance measurements of four long term R502 replacements in a test facility containing a scroll compressor.

Summary
A series of measurements has been completed comparing the system performance of four longterm replacements, R404A, R507, R407A and R407B as potential alternatives for R502. Their performance measurements were carried out under controlled conditions in a well instrumented alternative refrigerants test facility, using a high efficiency scroll compressor designed for low temperature operation. Measurements were conducted at two different condensing temperatures: 43.3 deg C and 48.9 deg C. The average refrigerant evaporating temperature was varied over a range of 34.4 deg C to -17.8 deg C. Results are given.
