ABOUT 75% OF THE FROZEN FISH AND SEAFOOD PRODUCED IN THAILAND IS EXPORTED, HALF OF THAT BEING PRAWNS. PRAWN EXPORTS GREW BY 16% PER YEAR FROM 1981 TO 1988 AND BY 52% IN 1989 (MEASURED BY QUANTITY). SECOND PLACE IN FROZEN EXPORTS IS OCCUPIED BY FROZEN CUTTLEFISH, OF WHICH THAILAND IS THE WORLD'S LARGEST EXPORTER (EXPORTS TRIPLED FROM 1981 TO 1988). EXPORTS OF FROZEN CHICKEN HAVE GROWN, AS WELL.
