Summary

Pesticide residues following autumn treatments of Navel oranges with different formulations and levels of chlorpyrifos, fenitrothion and malathion, and of clementines with fenitrothion and dimethoate, were monitored during 1999-2000 in Italy. No more than 2% of the insecticide was found on fruits straight after application, suggesting that greater care is needed in both maintaining the applicators and applying the spray. Residues in neither variety decreased greatly during cold storage; they were located chiefly in the peel.
