Summary
For the purpose of ozone layer protection, it is important to collect and decompose the existing CFCs contained in several kinds of equipment. In order to achieve effective collection and decomposition of these CFCs, Hitachi focused on CFCs contained in household refrigerators and has developed and commercialized a collection system for refrigerant CFC, another for blowing agent CFC, and a decomposition system for collected CFCs. These systems were installed in a pilot plant for recovering CFCs of the Association for Home Appliances in Japan (AEHA).
