Summary
This study was carried out by March Consulting Group for the Department of the Environment. Its specific aims were to: establish the pattern of CFC usage in different segments of the UK refrigeration market; identify the quantities of CFC used in these segments in the last 12 months and to compare this usage with 1986; to assess the alternatives for CFCs in each segment; to predict the quantities of CFCs required in the UK; and to identify the extent to which CFC requirements can be met by recycled material. The general background to CFC phase out and the Montreal Protocol and EC regulations are also reviewed.
