Summary
R1243zf (3,3,3-trifluoropropene) and its mixtures are expected to be the potential refrigerants for air conditioning systems due to their favourable thermodynamic properties. In this work, the flammability limits and charge limitations of R1243zf/RE170 for air conditioning system are studied. The lower flammability limits in volumetric concentration (LFLv) of the R1243zf, RE170 and R1243zf/RE170 were tested by following the ASHRAE Standard 34, and compared to the results estimated according to the Le Chatelier's principle. The lower flammability limits in mass concentration (LFLm), transformed from the LFLv, were adopted to predict the allowable maximum charge amount of the R1243zf/RE170 refrigerants in an air conditioner for human comfort in a room, as per the ISO Standard 5149.
