CHOICE OF VAPOUR-COMPRESSION HEAT PUMP WORKING FLUIDS.

Type of article: Article
Summary
PRESENTS A COMPARATIVE THERMODYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF 7 CANDIDATE VAPOUR-COMPRESSION HEAT PUMP WORKING FLUIDS: R11, R12B1, R21, R113, R114, R142B AND R216. THE BASIS FOR THE EVALUATION IS THE TEMPERATURE BOOST/PRESSURE-PENALTY RATIO AND THE HEAT OF VAPORISATION. FOUR OF THESE REFRIGERANTS ARE COVERED BY THE MONTREAL PROTOCOL. OBSERVES THAT R21 AND R216 ARE EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVES FOR LOW GRADE HEAT RECOVERY AND R142B FOR COMFORT HEATING. COMPARES THE FLUIDS FOR IDEAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE LIMITS OF EACH REFRIGERANT AS WELL AS A FIXED RANGE OF 30 TO 100 DEG C.
