Summary

THE SELECTION OF THE WORKING FLUID INFLUENCES STRICTLY THE PERFORMANCE OF THE HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS AND THEIR SUITABILITY TO DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGICAL PURPOSES. REFERRING TO A MEDIUM TEMPERATURE COMPRESSION HEAT PUMP, A COMPARISON AMONG MOST WIDELY KNOWN FLUIDS (R11, R21, R113, R114, R142B, R152A, RC318, R717) IS CARRIED OUT BY SIMULATING THE PERFORMANCE OF A TWO-STAGE PLANT OPERATING BETWEEN 293 AND 373 K (20 AND 10G) THE THERMODYNAMIC EFFICACY IS POINTED OUT BY MEANS OF SEVERAL PARAMETERS. SOME INDICATIONS ABOUT STABILITY, AGGRESSIVITY AND TOXICITY FOR OPERATORS AND ENVIRONMENT ARE REPORTED.
