Summary

THE ARTICLE DESCRIBES THE RESULTS OF EXPERIMENTS IN CLEANING RECYCLED AIR BY CONDENSING THE WATER VAPOUR IT CONTAINS, USING SOME REPRESENTATIVE DESIGNS OF SOVIET AIR COOLERS. THE OFFENDING SUBSTANCES IN THE CONDENSATE INCLUDED AMMONIA, HYDROGEN SULPHIDE, METAXYLENE, AND ETHYL ACETATE. SOME MATHEMATICAL CRITERIA ARE PRESENTED. THE EXPERIMENTS SHOW THAT BY THIS METHOD, FRESH AIR NEEDED IS REDUCED, AND THE ENERGY LOSSES IN THE SYSTEM ARE THEREBY ALSO REDUCED BY 10-15%. THIS METHOD OF CLEANING IS THEREFORE RECOMMENDED.
