Summary

A METHOD IS PROPOSED FOR COMPARING REFRIGERATING PLANTS WITH DIFFERENT ENERGY-SUPPLY SOURCES, IN AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEMS OF SHIPS. IT IS NOTEDTHAT THE SYSTEM WHICH HAS LEAST EFFECT ON THE WEIGHT OF THE SHIP IS A TURBINE REFRIGERATING PLANT, USING THE EXHAUST GAS OF THE MAIN PROPULSION ENGINE. THE HEAVIEST INFLUENCE IS WITH ELECTRIC REFRIGERANT PLANTS, WHICH ARE SUPPLIED WITH ELECTRICAL ENERGY FROM TURBOGENERATORS OR DIESEL-ENGINE GENERATING SETS. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE TWO SYSTEMS IS 36.7 TONNES. C.C.
