CO2: a natural solution for freezing applications.
Author(s) : ELEFSEN F.
Type of article: Article
Summary
CO2 offers an outstanding low-temperature alternative to the traditional refrigerants HCFC22, HFC 404A, HFC507, ammonia. CO2 offers both lower energy consumption and in some applications faster freezing times. CO2 also offers an environmentally neutral solution both in the global and local environment. It can even be used in some existing systems if appropriate modifications are made. Components and systems layouts exist and it is likely that CO2 will experience a new era as the preferred low-temperature refrigerant in the near future.
