CO2 in the low temperature stage of large industrial refrigerating plants.

Author(s) : BRENDENG E.

Summary

CO2 in the low temperature stage and ammonia in the high temperature stage may give a less costly plant than a two-stage plant with only ammonia for -40 deg C. The cascade heat exchanger is large and different types of exchangers should be evaluated. Plate-fin heat exchangers are compact, but oil fouling may give problems. The temperature difference and temperature level for the cascade heat exchanger should be optimized. The document presents the transparencies.
