Summary
The paper reviews the main energy costs in cold stores. Handling, doors and air curtains are presented, along with the type and thickness of the insulation. Evaporators and their defrosting mode, and condenser feeding and cleaning are briefly dealt with. Compressors and their operation mode, especially at low cooling load are discussed. The temperature of the products brought into the store and thermostat control are also important factors.
