Summary

A study was carried out to investigate the effects of maturity stage (dark and light red cherries) at harvest and modified atmosphere packaging using low density polyethylene (LDPE) film (11 and 40 micro-m) on quality of sweet cherries kept at 0 °C. After storage, fruits were exposed to room temperature for 3 days. Quality was measured in terms of weight loss, colour (hue angle), firmness, soluble solids content, pedicel characteristics and rot development.
