Comparison of the performance of a Ciat chiller operating with R22 and R407C fitted with exel plate exchangers.

Summary

In this paper the results of experiments conducted in Ciat's research laboratory in France are presented. The study concerns chillers fitted with brazed plate exchangers and reciprocating compressors, initially operating with R407C and ester oil, followed by R22. Several energetic parameters of the installation including cooling capacity, heating capacity, absorbed power, energy efficiency ratio as well as variation in composition and miscibility of oil have been compared. The results of these investigations are of significant importance for users and manufacturers of refrigeration installations operating with R407C (see also IIR Bulletin, ref. 1999-3161).
