Compatibility and performance of molecular sieve desiccants with alternative refrigerants.

Summary
The compatibility test method is described along with the results of tests with R12, R22, R124, R125, R134a, R143a, and R152a. The equilibrium water capacities of commercial molecular sieve desiccants of interest to the stationary refrigeration industry in liquid refrigerants R12, R22, R134a, R401C, and R32 are also presented as isotherms at 52 deg C. Drying rate was tested in a domestic refrigerator using R134a and ester lubricant. The test data show that the fluids can be dried and the rate can be explained in terms of the test conditions.
