Summary

These proceedings of the Padua meeting present a detailed panorama of substitute refrigerants, including mixtures, hydrocarbons and other "natural" refrigerants in particular. Findings are presented on compatibility with lubricants and various materials, methods and results of efficiency tests, and thermodynamic properties (heat transfer, in particular). Eleven papers deal with absorption and adsorption systems and five others with expanded insulating material. The Padua meeting was a "first" in the quality of research and industrial experts that it brought together.
