COMPRESSOR SUPERHEATING: THE MOST SERIOUS CURRENT PROBLEM IN REFRIGERATING PLANTS.

[In Italian. / En italien.]

Type of article: Article

Summary

MOST OF THE DAMAGE WHICH OCCURS TODAY IN COMPRESSORS IS CAUSED BY SUPERHEATING, NOT BY LIQUID SUCTION, AS IN PAST TIMES. AS OIL LOSES ITS LUBRICATING POWER AT A LOWER TEMPERATURE THAN THAT WHICH PRODUCES CARBONIZATION, THE AUTHOR STRESSES THE NEED TO LIMIT THE TEMPERATURE OF THE COMPRESSED FLUID, MEASURED AT THE DISCHARGE LINE, TO 393 K (120 DEG C). TO THIS END, TWO TABLES ARE GIVEN IN WHICH THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE TEMPERATURE FOR INLET VAPOUR FOR R22 AND R502 IS PROPOSED AS A FUNCTION OF EVAPORATION AND CONDENSATION TEMPERATURES. IF NECESSARY, ESPECIALLY WHEN A GAS-LIQUID HEAT EXCHANGER IS INSTALLED, LIQUID INJECTION INTO THE SUCTION LINE OF THE COMPRESSOR IS RECOMMENDED. E. F.
