Condensation and evaporation heat transfer of R410A inside internally grooved horizontal tubes.

Summary
Heat transfer coefficients and pressure drop were measured for the condensation and the evaporation of R410A and HCFC-22 inside the internally grooved tubes. The experiment was performed for two different kinds of internally grooved tube of 8.01 mm outside diameter, 7.30 mmr inside diameter and 7.99 mm outside diameter, 7.24 mm mean inside diameter inside of which shapes were conventional spiral groove and herring-bone groove respectively. The obtained heat transfer data of the values of the local heat transfer coefficients of the herring-bone grooved tube are about twice as large as those of spiral one for the condensation and are slightly larger for the evaporation compared with those of spiral one.
