Summary
Apples and pears stored together in controlled atmosphere (CA) maintained better quality than apples and pears stored alone in CA. Early harvested apples and pears maintained better quality in CA storage than later harvested fruits. A combination of 45 days CA storage followed by 30 days storage in air resulted in Gala apples that were superior in quality to apples stored for 75 days in air.
