Controlled-atmosphere short-term storage of berries.

Author(s) : HAFFNER K.

Summary

In 1992 blueberries, strawberries and raspberries were stored under 15% carbon dioxide after harvest (at 2-3 deg C) in a small-scale equipment. The control was storage in air at the same temperature. Decay, water loss, and fruit quality were analyzed at the time of harvest and after storage. No significant effects on fruit quality were recorded after storage in high CO2, compared with storage in air. Differences in the amount of decay were observed in blueberries and strawberries.
