Coupling of heat pipes and solid-gas reactors for short cycle time sorption machine.

Couplage de caloducs et de réacteurs solide-gaz pour des procédés à sorption à cycle court.

Summary

The reactive medium, called IMPEX, developed for solid-gas reactors of chemical heat transformers, must be coupled with high efficiency heat exchangers, such as heat pipes, to improve the overall performance of the process. The operating behaviour of the two elements, a heat pipe and an IMPEX reactor, are very different, especially on their dynamic aspects. A steady-state characterization of these elements has been made. Their dynamic coupling has been studied for both the synthesis and decomposition reactions. This research proves that the coupling described is efficient in cycle time, and mean power of reaction and quickly reaches a stable and almost steady working mode.
