Cryogenic refrigerated transport equipment tests: methodology and results.

Author(s) : CAVALIER G., NOL P., VALENTIN B., et al.

Summary

This article presents the testing methodology developed to test and qualifies cryogenic refrigeration units for transport equipment using direct systems. The protocol is based on the multi temperature protocol developed for ATP in use for more than 10 years. It also gives examples of results obtained on a multi-temperature nitrogen direct system. Results show that the measured refrigeration capacities of each refrigeration device are practically equal to the maximum theoretical capacity of nitrogen gasification. The study shows that it is possible to measure refrigeration capacity and consumption of the direct or indirect cryogenics systems. Finally the laboratory results are compared with field measurements.
