CRYOPRESERVATION OF AUTOLOGOUS BLOOD (RED BLOOD CELLS, PLATELETS AND PLASMA) -CARDIOVASCULAR SURGERY WITH FROZEN AUTOLOGOUS BLOOD.

Author(s) : EBINE K., et al.

Summary

THIS STUDY REVIEWS 152 SURGICAL CASES IN WHICH FROZEN ALLOGENIC AND/OR AUTOLOGOUS BLOOD WAS USED TO PREVENT POSTTRANSFUSION HEPATITIS. STATISTICAL RESULTS ARE GIVEN. PATIENTS AWAITING ELECTIVE SURGERY CAN HAVE THEIR OWN BLOOD STORED IN THE FROZEN STATE. NEITHER INFECTIONS NOR IMMUNOLOGICAL REACTIONS WILL OCCUR IN PATIENTS WHO UNDERGO SURGERY WITH CRYO-AUTOTRANSFUSION AS OPPOSED TO A TRANSFUSION OF ALLOGENIC NON-FROZEN BLOOD.
