Spanish translation of an article presented at the IIR meeting held in Melbourne, Australia, February 11-14, 1996 (See IIR Bulletin, ref. 97-0688). The paper focuses on the current state of the art on the possible alternative refrigerants to replace HCFC-22 which is being applied almost exclusively to conventional air conditioning and heat-pumping equipments worldwide. Special emphasis is also provided to discuss the recent progress in thermodynamic property studies of binary and/or ternary HFC refrigerant mixtures and some of the recent findings on the cycle performance using these HFC mixtures.
