The paper describes four total-energy systems in Italy, of which two are operating, one is being installed and the last is at the project stage. They belong to different categories and include internal combustion engines (piston engines and gas turbines), combined steam cycles, refrigerating compression and absorption cycles, reversible heat pumps, heat recovery from exhaust gas and electric power generation.
