Design/setup of the experimental-scale triple-effect absorption chiller using the aqueous lithium bromide solution as a working fluid.

Author(s) : KIM J. S., LEE H., PANG H. S., et al.

Summary

Too high temperature of the lithium bromide solution is known to be very bad for corrosion in generators and absorbers. In the paper, a new absorption cycle using an additional vapour compression unit in the basic triple-effect absorption chiller cycle was considered to overcome the inherent problem. The high generator temperature can be lowered by properly using the vapour compression unit and thus changing the operating condition of the generator. An experimental-scale absorption chiller was designed and constructed based on a computer simulation. A brief characteristic of the current stage operation was also included.
