DETERMINATION AND PERSISTENCE OF SEVERAL FUNGICIDES IN POSTHARVEST TREATED APPLES DURING THEIR COLD STORAGE.

Summary

THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THE STABILITY OF FUNGICIDE RESIDUES (BENOMYL, CARBENDAZIM, METHYLTHIOPHANATE AND THIABENDAZOLE) USED IN THE POSTHARVEST TREATMENT OF FRUITS. THESE TREATMENTS WERE MADE BY IMMERSION OF STARKING AND GOLDEN DELICIOUS APPLES IN AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS OF EACH FUNGICIDE. STORAGE CONDITIONS WERE 273 AND 275 K (0 AND 2 DEG C). THIABENDAZOLE, BENOMYL AND METHYLTHIOPHANATE PERCENTAGE RESIDUES STILL PRESENT AFTER STORAGE TIME OF STARKING APPLES WERE BETWEEN 30 AND 25%, AND GOLDEN DELICIOUS 45 AND 55%. CARBENDAZIM WAS THE FUNGICIDE WITH THE GREATER STORAGE STABILITY, BETWEEN 40 AND 65% FOR BOTH CULTIVARS.
