Determination of capacity for expansion valve for different refrigerants.

Author(s) : RATHJE P., ZANGENBERG J.

Summary

Expansion valves have been manufactured through more than 60 years, but there is still a lot of problems that need further clarification. If the valve can be described with good accuracy by a one-nozzle model, then the conversion calculation from one refrigerant to another can be done with satisfactory accuracy. If the current condition deviates considerably from the standard test condition or the valve has a considerable pressure drop in the housing, then it will be better to use a multi-nozzle model or another more sophisticated method.
