Development of a non-electric, booster heat pump for cold climates.

Développement d'une pompe à chaleur à appoint non électrique pour les climats froids.

Summary

The article presents the development and experimental verification of a variable-speed air-to-air non-electric booster heat pump, highlighting new refrigerating circuits, the sequences and original modes of operation and monitoring, as well as its performance in different steady-state operating regimes. Several laboratory prototypes and a pilot experiment on 20 pre-series units in Canada proved the technological viability of the concept as well as its limits.
