Development of an R744 refrigeration cassette for beverage coolers.

Summary

This paper presents the methodology used to develop a refrigeration unit called "cassette" to be used in the market for beverage coolers. A cassette calorimeter was built specifically to evaluate the performance regardless the cabinet where it is going to be applied. The calorimeter is able to perform tests both under steady-state and transient conditions taking into account different thermal load profiles. Tests were done at steady state conditions in order to evaluate the performance and check the compliance with the requirements needed by the market. The results are shown in terms of cooling capacity and the COP of the system at different operating conditions of ambient temperature and relative humidity. The developed system showed a good compliance with the standards required by the market and it is currently under field tests evaluation in different climate conditions around the world.
