Type of article: Article, Case study
Summary
In order to save energy in a water heating system which presently uses 34% of residential energy consumption, the authors have developed a compact one-unit heat-pump water heating system using CO2 refrigerant and have launched it for the first time in the world in April 2005. Its rated COP is 4.60 in the case of 42°C water heater at intermediary condition according to the JRAIA 4050-2005 standard.
