Development of hermetic swing compressors for CO2 refrigerant.
Author(s) : OHKAWA T., KUMAKURA E., HIGASHI H., et al.
Summary
Starting from a conventional swing compressor, the authors designed a new CO2 swing compressor that can maintain high efficiency and reliability, even under a large differential pressure. In order to ensure high efficiency, they designed the dimensions of the cylinder and the clearance of rotating parts to minimize the leakage gap. In order to ensure high reliability, they carried out a stress analysis for the parts which receive a large differential pressure. The durability tests showed that the methods adopted resulted in no problems around the sliding parts such as bearings. As a result, the authors achieved a high seasonal COP of more than 3.0 for the CO2 heat pump water heater mounted with the compressor exclusively designed for CO2.
