Different working fluids for absorption heat pumps: a computer study for district heating.

Summary

For the operating conditions used in this comparative study, it was shown that the total heat transfer area of the absorption heat pump would be 2.5 times larger if the pump is operated using water-lithium bromide as the working pair. This considerable difference is accentuated when the capital cost is estimated, since a cheaper material of construction can be used for the water-soda working pair because of its lower susceptibility to corrosion. This could give a better total process economy although the water-lithium bromide working pair resulted in a 5.5% higher COP.
