Summary

IT IS SHOWN THAT IN NORMAL STATE THE RATE OF A JUMPLIKE DEFORMATION INCREASES ; THE FACT MAY BE TREATED IN TERMS OF THE THERMODYNAMIC INSTABILITY OF PLASTIC FLOW AT LOW TEMPERA THE VALUE OF SOFTENING EFFECT MEASURED ON BOTH INITIAL AND ANNEALED SAMPLES CORRELATES WITH THESTRAIN RATE SENSITIVITY OF FLOW STRESS. THIS IS AN INDICATION OF THE DYNAMIC NATURE OF SOFTENING EFFECT.
