Summary

DURING A STUDY CARRIED OUT ON 24 VOLUNTEERS, IT WAS SHOWN THAT EXPOSURE TO A TEMPERATURE OF 278 K (5 DEG C) CONSIDERABLY REDUCED MANUAL DEXTERITY BUT IT HAD NO EFFECT EITHER ON SIMPLE RESPONSE TIMES OR THE RAPIDITY OF THE PROPOSITION OF CORRECT RESPONSES. ON THE OTHER HAND, COOLING HAS A NEGATIVE EFFECT ON COMPLEX TASKS WHICH REQUIRE SPEEDINESS AND PROMOTES ERRONEOUSRESPONSES ; DISCUSSION WITH REGARD TO ALERTNESS AND DISTRACTION. (Bull. Doc.
