Summary

The two strains of Listeria were grown alone or in combination, in either the presence or absence of P. fluorescens ATCC 13525 in skimmed milk at either 7 or 14 deg C. The pH of cultures and the density of bacterial populations were measured for 48 days. The presence of P. fluorescens caused a more rapid fall of pH, which accelerated inhibition of two strains of Listeria. On the other hand, Listeria species had no significant effects on the growth of Pseudomonas fluorescens.
