Summary

THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS SHOW THAT THE INDIVIDUAL PACKAGING OF MELONS WITH A POLYVINYL CHLORIDE FILM RESULTS IN AN INCREASE IN THEIR INTERNAL CO2 CONCENTRATION, A SLOWING DOWN OF THEIR RIPENING AS WELL AS A REDUCTION IN THE CHILLING INJURY (INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL DETERIORATION OF THE COLOUR). THE DEVELOPMENT OF MOULD DEPENDS ESSENTIALLY ON THE STORAGE TEMPERATURE. (Bibliogr. int. CDIUPA-CNRS, FR., 89-210-244401.
