Summary

ALL AGENTS HAVE A DELETERIOUS EFFECT ON THE SURVIVAL OF UNFROZEN MORULA AT 293K (20 DEGC). THE NOXIOUS EFFECT OF ERYTHRITOL IS LOWER AT 273K (0 DEGC) AND SUCROSE HAS A PROTECTIVE EFFECT AT THIS TEMPERATURE. DIMETHYLFORMAMIDE AND DMSO ARE MORE NOXIOUS THAN ETHYLENE GLYCOL AND GLYCEROL AT BOTH TEMPERATURES. SLOW FREEZING IN PRESENCE OF BOTH LATTER GIVES 80 TO 94% SURVIVAL. SUCROSE AND DIMETHYLFORMAMIDE HAVE NO CRYOPROTECTIVE EFFECT. (Bull. CNRS, FR., 81-361-17971.
