ELECTRICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF ALTERNATE REFRIGERANTS.

Summary

ONE OF THE BENEFITS OF THE CFC REFRIGERANTS IS THEIR HIGH DIELECTRIC STRENGTH AND LOW ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITY, WHICH HAS FACILITATED THEIR USE IN HERMETIC REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSORS, WHERE THE REFRIGERANT CAN BE EXPOSED TO HIGHELECTRICAL POTENTIAL DIFFERENCES. THE PURPOSE OF THIS PAPER IS TO REPORT DIELECTRIC STRENGTH, DIELECTRIC CONSTANTS AND RESISTIVITY OF CFCS, HYDROCHLOROFLUOROCARBONS, HYDROFLUOROCARBONS AND FLUOROCARBONS. PASCHEN CURVE MINIMA HAVE ALSO BEEN DETERMINED FOR THESE MATERIALS.
