Summary
This article deals with the relation between development of society, environmental protection and energy consumption in the perspective of the Second Law of Thermodynamics. The consumer society today consumes huge quantities of natural resources, that are limited. The developed countries are now faced with substantial planetary problems can not be solved by the brutal needs of the consumer society, introducing "the minimum production of entropy", as a fundamental principle of the new time. Process exergy analysis is one way of process analysing in harmony with the above-mentioned principle.
