Energy efficient and environmentally friendly heat pumping system using CO2 as working fluid.

Author(s) : BRANDES M.

Summary

This document analyzes the effect of COP on maximum pressures used and evaporating temperature in a transcritical cycle. The properties of the main components required are also analyzed: the compressor, the gas chiller (which replaces the condense in the transcritical cycle), the evaporator, and the expansion valve. Devices used to control and regulate capacity are also described. The last section of the document is devoted to a description of the prototype itself and the performances achieved. Areas where research should lead to improvement are also indicated.
