Energy saving by utilization of cryogenic energy from LNG regasification.

Author(s) : IKARI M.

Summary

The Tokyo Gas Company Negishi LNG receiving terminal, which began operations in 1969, is the first and oldest terminal of its kind in Japan. In 1993, the Negishi terminal received a total of 2.64 million tons of LNG which was used for town gas and power generation. This area is similar to an industrial complex composed of a freezing warehouse, cryogenic power plant, frozen food plant and facilities for air liquefaction and separation and liquid carbon dioxide and dry ice manufacturing. The paper describes each facility, the methods of cold utilization, and the calculation of the amount of energy saved in comparison to conventional methods.
